Dave McCormick for US Senate
Dave McCormick has a bold vision for America’s renewal, and he’s ready to bring his leadership to the United States Senate for the people of Pennsylvania.
As a seventh-generation Pennsylvanian, Dave is deeply rooted in our state. He is a West Point graduate, a combat veteran, and a Bronze Star recipient. With a track record as a job creator and business leader, he is also a national security expert and a powerful advocate for addressing the challenges posed by China. Above all, he is a devoted husband and father to six remarkable daughters, motivated by a desire to preserve the American dream for them.
A trusted and thoughtful leader, Dave is committed to fighting for all Pennsylvanians.
Born in Washington, Pennsylvania, and raised in Bloomsburg, Dave is the son of two lifelong educators. As the eldest of two boys, he learned the value of hard work early on. His childhood included playing football and wrestling, trimming Christmas trees, delivering newspapers, and busing tables at the Magee Hotel.
Nominated to the United States Military Academy by a Pennsylvania senator, Dave became the first student from Bloomsburg in decades to attend West Point. After graduating, he served in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He was deployed during the First Gulf War and earned the Bronze Star for his service in Iraq, retiring as a Captain.
After his military service, Dave earned a Ph.D. in international relations from Princeton University before moving to Pittsburgh to embark on a business career. He rose to become CEO of FreeMarkets, a successful tech startup that created hundreds of jobs in Western Pennsylvania.
In 2005, Dave answered the call to serve again, taking on roles in the highest levels of government, including Under Secretary of the Treasury and Deputy National Security Advisor. For four years, he led efforts to protect American technology from Chinese theft, advised the President on critical national security matters, and played a key role in negotiating the global response to the 2008 financial crisis.
After leaving government, Dave joined Bridgewater Associates, one of the world’s largest and most successful investment firms, managing pension plans for teachers, firefighters, and law enforcement. He served as CEO until he resigned to run for the Senate in Pennsylvania in 2022.
Dave and his wife, Dina, proudly support organizations dedicated to veterans and their families.
With four decades of unique leadership experience, Dave is committed to delivering results for the Keystone State. He is unafraid to stand up to both parties to do what’s right and will do whatever it takes to repair our broken economy and restore the American dream for all Pennsylvanians and future generations.
